Just back from my weekly Pilates class, for me it is a great change of pace to the level and type of exercise I normally do. Just slowing down the pace and taking time to reconnect with the smallest of functional movements is really grounding, not to mention relaxing.
What may look like a very light form of exercise class can also be quite deceiving, Pilates has a knack of target some of the very small sympathetic muscle groups that are normally neglected during the more commonly practiced strength exercises, so be prepared to ache in places you didn’t even know you had.
Even if you think your main need is for more intense cardio and conditioning workout exercise classes I highly reccomend you give pilates a try as it is a great compliment to more vigorous exercise. and can help to reduce the risk of injury as well as aid recovery.
